About Us

Sunset Cliffs Candle Co. was started in San Diego to celebrate the natural beauty of the coast. Growing up in Ocean Beach, Cally spent her childhood making candles for her family and friends, inspired by the scents of the ocean and the wild native plants that surrounded Sunset Cliffs Nature Preserve.

This passion translated into candles handcrafted in small batches with sustainable soy wax, clean-burning ingredients, and nature-inspired fragrances that capture the golden light, ocean breezes, and calming energy of the California coast.

Rooted in care for the place that shaped her, a portion of every sale is donated to local wave and wildlife conservation.

More than just candles—they’re a tribute to the coastal magic of the California coast loved since childhood, crafted to bring you moments of calm, connection, and warmth.

  • To achieve a clean and even burn, follow these tips:

    1. Let It Burn Long Enough: On your first use, allow the candle to burn until the entire surface melts to the edges of the jar. This prevents tunneling and ensures an even wax pool for future burns.

    2. Trim the Wick: Keep the wick trimmed to about 1/4 inch before each burn to avoid a flickering flame or excessive soot.

    3. Burn in Increments: Limit each burn session to 2–4 hours to maintain an even wax pool and extend the life of your candle.

    4. Place on a Stable Surface: Burn your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface away from drafts to help it burn evenly.

  • We currently ship anywhere within the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories, using USPS Priority Mail. This ensures a fast and reliable delivery service, typically arriving within 1–3 business days once shipped.

    At this time, we do not offer international shipping, but we’re working to expand in the future. Stay tuned!

  • Yes! Our glass jars are fully recyclable. Once your candle has burned down, simply remove any remaining wax and wick. You can do this by freezing the jar for a few hours and then gently scraping out the wax, or by pouring warm, soapy water into the jar to loosen any residue.

    After cleaning, the jar can be recycled or repurposed as a chic storage container, a planter for small succulents, or even a decorative piece.
